Joan’s our most internationally well-travelled team mate. It makes sense really, since she’s got a major in Geography! Former COO of SunNight Solar, a Houston solar flashlight company providing flashlights particularly to women and girls in the developing world, Joan has had a wide range of responsibilities - from coordinating logistics for flashlight delivery, to the implementation and management of social programs and initiatives to distribute products throughout the developing world via micro enterprise, donation, and other channels.

And of course, hob-knobbing goes hand in hand for a world traveler and Joan has had a seat at the proverbial big wig’s table having  collaborated with notable organizations such as The Clinton Global Initiative, United Nations High Commission on Refugees, Direct Relief International, Invisible Children, World Vision, Solar Electric Light Fund and The Rockefeller Foundation to distribute lights.

All kidding aside, her unyeilding involvement with international women’s issues and human rights using her disruptive technology experience and global marketplace expertise in many developing countries including Afghanistan, Kenya, Democratic Republic of Congo, Haiti, Nigeria and Uganda, only furthers Joan’s passion for taking a global stance on social good.

As a graduate from the University of Texas with a BA in Geography, Joan has aligned herself with people and organizations dedicated to improving the quality of life on a global scale. She has counseled troubled teens and, as an abstract artist, she encourages creativity and expression for all.
