Degree: Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Minor in Management
Favorite Quote: “Miracles are natural. When they don’t occur, something has gone wrong.”

To say Brian Massey is a Renaissance Man would actually be an understatement. Brian not only has the online marketing thing down but he’s a scientist, a programmer and a creative cub scout master. Wouldn’t you agree he has that left and right brain thing under control?

Let us explain. Brian has almost 20 years of experience in computer software development, applications and web development. He’s held upper management IT positions as well as co-founding several of his own companies. That’s all a very helpful set of knowledge when you’re the Chief Community Officer of a soon-to-be-big-time start-up..

By flexing his right brain too, Brian has extensive experience in designing and implementing interactive marketing web sites and marketing systems. He considers himself a conversion scientist. Some companies have rocket scientists on their team, we have a conversion scientist – our expert in strategic and tactical online marketing that encompasses lead generation and search engine optimization. This is just the tip of his marketing iceberg.

He’s also worked with major players in the field creating content for consumers to build loyalty and generate revenue.  Brian has grown internal contact databases over 2400% in nano-time using email, search engine marketing, direct mail and tradeshow marketing guerilla tactics. As if that’s not impressive enough, he’s also managed channel relationships with the world’s largest semiconductor distributors.

He is the author of several blogs, including - Customer Chaos, a blog about online customer communities and Conversion Scientist, a blog that calls on all business owners and marketers to help transform the Web into a place where problems are solved and businesses grow. He is also a columnist at ClickZ, an online community of respected marketing experts. He is the author of the upcoming book The Market for Me: Surviving Job Loss and Building Your Lifetime Career Network which teaches professionals how to use online networking to build their career.

Brian’s key responsibilities at OneSeventeen Media, in addition to upholding Renaissance Man status, will be oversight and strategic direction of all social aspects of the PlumbBrain community as well as being a key contributor on the marketing, ad network catalog and product development teams. Oh yeah, he may even sling a little code here and there.

Brian lives with his wife and two children in Austin, Texas, where life and the Internet are hopelessly intertwined.
